Privacy Policy

This policy explains what information Sound It Out collects, how we use it, and the choices parents have. If you have questions, please contact us.

1. Information we collect

  • Parent account data: email address and authentication information managed by our backend auth provider.
  • Child profile data: a first name and an optional avatar image chosen when a parent creates a child profile. We do not ask children for an email address, password, or any contact information.
  • Learning data: practice attempts, correct and incorrect taps, word mastery status, level progress, and streaks. This is used to show parents how their child is doing.
  • Contact messages: name, email, subject, and message when a parent uses the contact form.

2. How we use information

  • To provide the phonics practice experience and track each child's progress.
  • To display progress, accuracy, and weak-sound reports to the parent.
  • To respond to support questions sent through the contact form.
  • To keep accounts secure and fix technical problems.

3. Sharing and advertising

We do not sell personal information. We do not show advertising to children or parents. We only share data with service providers needed to run the app (hosting, authentication, database), and only as far as necessary to operate the service.

4. Children's privacy

Sound It Out is designed for children ages 4–7 to use with a parent or guardian. We do not knowingly collect personal information directly from children. Child profiles are created and managed by the parent account. We do not enable public profiles, social features, or direct messaging.

5. Data retention and deletion

We keep account and learning data while the account is active. Parents can delete a child profile at any time. Parents can also contact us to delete the entire parent account and all associated child data.

6. Your choices

Parents can review, update, or delete child profiles from the parent dashboard. If you would like to access, correct, or delete other personal data, contact us and we will respond within a reasonable time.

7. Contact us

For privacy questions or deletion requests, please use the contact form or email the address you receive in replies from support.
